Laura McCabe Brandt


Laura McCabe Brandt has twenty years of experience focusing on commercial real estate matters in the retail, hospitality, and property management industries. Initially, Ms. Brandt gained extensive commercial real estate experience serving in senior in-house positions including:

  • General Counsel for fashion retailers H&M and C. Wonder resetting the retail leasing standards for mall and street locations as well as customizing construction exhibits and correlating construction and architect agreements;
  • General Counsel for iconic brands Syms and Filene's Basement managing the real property (acquisitions, dispositions, sale leasebacks), leases (drafting and negotiating new leases, modifications, and work outs and architect and construction contracts) and serving as landlord representative for its strip center and other leased out locations;
  • Associate General Counsel at Apple Core Hotels, a hotel and property management company with six Manhattan hotels, two office buildings and an assortment of other real estate and investment assets where Laura handled hotel development; ground, office, retail and restaurant leasing; and SRO matters; and
  • Associate General Counsel for Ranieri & Co., Inc., a private investment firm handling real estate development deals in particular domestic and international golf courses.

In these roles, Ms. Brandt provided strategic and operational advice and counsel to facilitate the formation, operation and growth of these businesses. Ms. Brandt’s responsibilities were wide in scope to include the legal areas of real property dispositions and acquisitions, retail, office, restaurant and warehouse leasing, and construction.

Ms. Brandt also served as General Counsel for Burch Creative Capital providing legal services across several legal categories as well as project management of retail construction projects.

Ms. Brandt has been a speaker at the Association of Corporate Counsel, NYC Bar Association, Touro Law Center, and presenting on retail leasing and sale leaseback transactions.
